World Motor Rally GB

On the 14th November 2014 pupils attended an event organised by the Engineering Scheme Wales and the World Rally GB Wales. Pupils from year 9 STEM club, year 10 and 11 engineers had earned a place on this unique event by submitting coursework as part of their Engineering GCSE. As part of this Engineering opportunities the event sponsored by many large companies such as JCB, Airbus, Toyota, DRB and Lego to name but a few all exhibited company information on future careers and training opportunities as well as interactive displays that engaged pupils in Engineering. Pupils also had the opportunity to meet dozens of colleges and universities students to access advice on careers in Engineering through the activities and exhibits on the day.
The pupils followed a prescribed day of activities such as tours of the Rally maintenance and design parks where they had the opportunity to get up close with the engineers and cars from companies such as VW, Vauxhall, Audi and Ford. They also had the opportunity to carry out Science Technology Engineering and Manufacturing activities throughout the day organised by STEM Wales as well as a unique insight into how bespoke engineering companies such as DRB manufacturing their products during a tour of their facility.
All pupils enjoyed the day and are looking forward to the next pathways and Aim higher enrichment trips.
