School Library & Resources
Ysgol y Grango library is a lively and popular area for students.
Open from 8am until 4pm every weekday (3.10pm on Fridays), it is available for students to complete homework, access resources, socialise with friends or just quietly read.
The library is staffed by our full time librarian Mrs Abraham who is available before and after school, as well as at break and lunchtime to support and mentor students.
The library has a wealth of resources for students including more than 10,000 fiction and non-fiction books, exam guides, past papers and college prospectus’. In recent years the library collection has been updated, with the help of student fundraising, to include an LGBTQ fiction section and graphic novels. The library has a suite of 9 computers for student use in the main library, however there is also an adjacent room which houses six Apple Mac computers and a mobile suite of 16 laptops to aid students in their studies. This room is also a quieter space for students to study or read quietly and is often used for one to one tuition and support.
Key Stage 3 students also use the library during English lessons, with a library lesson each week. Tutors and teachers of other subjects also sometimes use the space with their classes.
The library runs a Book Club and a Film Club, as well as putting on events and activities throughout the year, such as book fairs, competitions and our Big Book Week, which all encourage and engage students in independent reading.
